A blend of silk and abaca fibre, this exquisite fabric is ideal for sculptured headpieces. Its unique sheen and vibrant colour comes from the blend of fine silk woven through stiff banana palm fibres.
Abaca fibre is three times stronger than cotton or silk, and is extremely long-lasting. It is woven from the processed stalks of the abaca tree, a banana palm native to the Philippines. Because it is a natural fibre, it holds colour beautifully.
Silk abaca is fine and smooth. It can be free-shaped, blocked or used for draping. Because this material is interwoven with silk, it is pliable and creates amazing curves when twisted and shaped.
